me nathuram godse boltoy

Most of us talk about perspectives in life. In one of the movies 'oru kaidhiyin diary' starring Kamal Haasan and later remade in Hindi as Aakhree Raasta starring Amitabh Bachchan had the different perspectives of son and father. The father explains beautifully by writing a '6' and showing it to his son standing opposite and saying "you would read it as 9 although for me it is a 6 - we both are right from where we are standing".
It is very important for human being to get to other side and and understand the different perspective most importanly before even making a judgement of what is wrong and who is wrong. In India, most of us learnt in school about Gandhi's contribution and leadership in getting the freedom and every person knows Nathuram Godse was the assasin who was hanged for his gory mistake. But nobody was even told the story behind what prompted this guy to commit this flagitious act. Pradeep Dalvi was one of the persons who could present the other side perspective in the form of his play "nathuram godse boltoy". I got to know of this during the 90s when it was banned. I was also quite curious to see if there is any English or Hindi translation of this Marathi play. After so many years I finally got the transcript in http://www.rediff.com/news/1998/jul/22godse.htm. Quite interesting perspective and we know that Nathuram was neither crazy, nor was he some puppet in the hands of Hindu Mahasabha as is generally known - again the work of some political class for their own selfish gains and he was definitely a patriot.
Also this interview of his brother http://www.rediff.com/news/1998/jan/29godse1.htm is another food for thought from the Assassins perspective.
After reading this it should not be concluded that Nathuram is more patriotic than Gandhi or Gandhi was not just with Hindus etc. Gandhi had his own set of principles that he believed in. He did not force anyone to follow him. People did as they did not have any other leader at that time.
Just as Swami Vivekananda said we cannot change the world. The world has its destiny and people will do what is destined for them.
So we will always see many Indians who waste their lives pursuing selfish dreams instead of working towards a goal that Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose and others sacrificed their lives for.
