Rock On!! or A Wednesday

I happened to see both the movies on the same day, and was quite impressed with the original ideas from Hindi movie makers. Actually, quite difficult to believe that there are multiple movies and not just once in a blue moon that Hindi films are coming up with new story lines. But still it is very less compared to what regional films output every Friday. "A Wednesday" scores full marks as a movie and I would advise that one should see this movie if given a hard choice between the two (no reason to compare – I just took a lottery and these were the winners). The movie was quite realistically made with the lead actors Naseer and Anupam doing their usual (delivering 100% for the role), even other actors like Jimmy Shergill and Amir Batshir along with Deepal Shaw doing their bits quite well. Excellent piece of direction, camera work, stunt (no dhishum dhishum sounds), dialogues and background music supporting the film to the core. The movie is fast paced and is over within no time. No doubt that the story by Neeraj Pandey, who also directs is the backbone of the movie. Although I have a knack of predicting the film climaxes, this one did outdo me. In case of 'Rock On!!' the film surprises with the way it showcases the talent of Farhaan Akhtar as a singer, story writer and a matured actor in his debut and once again other actors left their mark. He left the directorial part to a rookie Abhishek Kapoor who did the job quite well. Rock On!! drags a bit and leaves a feeling that you spent too much time watching this movie. But such movies which are based on sentiments and emotions cannot be fast paced.
